It’s November? And Other Sneaky Surprises

Isn’t November sneaky? It hides behind the corner of Halloween and then jumps out and screams, “Thanksgiving is only three weeks away!” It ushers in other sneaky surprises, too. November 1st was National Author’s Day (yes, it’s a real thing) and the start of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). And tomorrow, we fall back to Daylight Savings Time. Geeze, November.

Speaking of sneaky surprises… The Delilah Duffy Mystery Series has all new covers, and the box set is here! Binge-readers can now get the whole 5-ebook series box set for $9.99. Doesn’t she look gorgeous?

If you’ve already enjoyed the series, please leave a review on the box set page! It looks so lonely with no reviews.

Since we’re talking surprises… I won my first Pickleball game today!

More Shockingly Good News:

How did I celebrate National Author’s Day? By doing what I do every day, Pinky. Taking over the writing world.

That is, I worked on my manuscript and promoted my new release, One Thing Better. I didn’t know about National Author’s Day until some lovely Instagrammers celebrated ME! I love Instagram!

You may also wonder… am I joining NaNoWriMo to write a novel from scratch in a month? Um, hell no. I wish I could write novels that fast, but it took me a decade to write The Delilah Duffy Series and a few years for One Thing Better, so… But good luck to all those caffeine-fueled writers out there giving it a shot.

I’m getting quicker, though… This month, I’ll finish my rough draft of Yes, No, Maybe—the working title of my next contemporary romance…

What happens when a jaded English teacher with no romance rules moves beside a grumpy romance writer looking for a muse? Sparks, broken hearts, or both?

Da, da, da… I started writing it last spring, and it’ll hit Joe’s inbox any day now. With luck, it’ll be released early next year. Fingers crossed!

I’ve had a few surprises with other people’s books lately. Maybe it’s that I’ve been so preoccupied with my stuff, but my reading has stalled. Joe and I started a book with an intriguing premise (I won’t say which one, but it sells a lot better than mine). We’re muddling through it, but we’re at 70% and nothing good has happened yet. Seriously. But we’re far enough in not to give up, though we want to… we really do. Sadly, struggling through this has broken my reading momentum. Ugh.

What do you do when that happens? Finish it or give up?

BUT I’m enjoying The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver however slowly I’m reading it. And we’re excited for our next read, Written in the Cards by Dana Storino (an Instragram buddy). If you’re on the hunt for a great book, try one of these.

What else… OH, did I mention that Thanksgiving’s only three weeks away?!?

On that note, here’s a good quote to move forward with…

“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” – Booker T. Washington

Happy November!

Jessica
