Mother’s Day never tops my list of favorite holidays. It’s a lot of pressure over gifts and too-busy restaurants when, if I’m honest, a real “day just for me” would mean wine, the couch, Chinese food, and a marathon of murder shows.
For writers, nothing evokes a childlike Christmas-morning-level excitement like seeing the first sample book cover designs created for our stories… and getting it right is absolutely imperative to the book’s success.
Writing good characters means creating story personalities that not only capture readers’ attention but feel real, like us. Give them something we all understand–creature comforts.
Writing a novel means getting lost in a story tunnel, but obsessing can’t overtake real productivity. Emerging from the other side with a finished book must take priority.
